Destiny of Adam Neumann-founder of WeWork and Flow

Adam Neumann co-founded WeWork in 2010 which is a provider of co-working spaces. He is born at the end of the spring season when the earth is prosperous. His chart has plenty of earth elements. He is a weak Ren or Yang Water day master. His favorable elements are water and metal. His unfavorable elements are earth, fire, and wood.

His first luck pillar of Fire-Rabbit was not favorable to him. His parents divorced when he was 7 years old. He suffered from dyslexia and could not read or write until he was in third grade. His second luck pillar of Fire Tiger and third luck pillar of Wood-Ox were also not favorable to him as he has limited success in his earlier startups.

He has a strong 7k structure, which indicates that he is aggressive, bold, ambitious, willing to take risks, power-driven, and will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. However, his 7k needs to be controlled by EG (intelligence & creativity). However, there is no EG in his natal chart. EG will only appear in his current luck pillar of Wood Rat and he is now using his EG (intelligence & creativity) to control/conquer 7k (power).

It was during the luck pillar of Wood Rat which has wood and his favorable water element and Rat in his luck pillar also combined with Dragon in his month pillar to produce water his favorable element that Neumann met the founder, Chairman, and CEO. Masayoshi Son of Softbank in 2016 at an event. The SoftBank chief, Son then was scouting for visionary founders ahead of the launch of the Japanese conglomerate’s $100 billion Vision Fund. 2016 was indeed a good year for Neumann as he met Masayoshi Son, one of his noble people or benefactors. Neumann’s noble people are Rabbit and Snake. Rabbit is found in the day pillar of Masayoshi Son. Softbank later invested a substantial sum of funds in his company, WeWork. 2016 was a Fire Monkey year. Monkey combined with the Dragon in his month pillar and Rat in his luck pillar to form a 3-harmony combination to produce his favorable water to strengthen his weak Ren or Yang Water day master so that he can control his fire or wealth.

Metal is a very important favorable resource element for Neumann. It was only in 2017 that SoftBank first started to invest in WeWork. 2017 was a Fire Rooster year.  It was also a good year for Neumann. Rooster in 2017 combined the Dragon in his month pillar to produce his favorable metal resource which in turn produced water to strengthen his weak day master. It was from the solid financial backing of Softbank and Son in WeWork that he became successful, famous, and rich. It was in this luck pillar of Wood Rat that he became very rich. He was once worth as much as US14 billion.

In 2019, WeWork was planning to launch its IPO. However, due to many issues, some of them being Neumann’s irresponsible work culture, eccentric behavior, drug use, and fancy expenses, WeWork decided to delay its IPO. In September 2019 the board of WeWork forced Neumann to step down as CEO due to mounting pressures from investors. The Rat in his current luck pillar harmed Goat in his year pillar indicating betrayals by his investors and directors who pressured him to step down. He was reportedly compensated with US$200 million in cash and US$245 million in company stocks for his renegotiated severance package between him and SoftBank.

2019 was the year of Earth Pig. The Yin Earth in 2019 combined with Yang Wood in the current luck pillar to transform it into earth thereby creating more unfavorable earth for him. The Yin Earth which is akin to sands or soils also contaminated the Yin Water and changed the water into mud hence his favorable water was removed and he was surrounded by many unfavorable earth elements which brought him bad luck i.e. the failed IPO. Neumann was once worth as much as US$14 billion but saw his fortune dwindle after WeWork’s failed IPO and his subsequent resignation from the company. Bloomberg estimated his net worth at US$450 million and Forbes at US$750 million in 2020. But for a weak day master using an intelligence element (EG/HO), the worst enemy is the wealth element as wealth (DW/IW) supports power (7k/DO) to attack self or the day master.

Neumann is now back with a new real estate venture. As of March 2022, Neumann has shifted focus to property investing in Miami. His new firm called Flow is a branded property management firm for apartments. Neumann bought more than 3,000 units in Miami and Fort Lauderdale in Florida; Atlanta, Georgia, and Nashville, Tennessee for over US$325 million. Flow basically offers services for housing communities that are fairly similar to what WeWork was providing for shared offices.

The difference with Flow is that Neumann’s new housing firm actually owns the apartment blocks rather than just having long-term office leases that it then has to sublease for shorter periods. Success will depend on whether Flow can buy cheap apartments and then rent them for a year or more and charge a premium for all sorts of services, like free WiFi or fancy coffee machines.

Andreessen Horowitz, the largest venture capital (VC) firm in the world with US$30 billion in assets under management, agreed to invest US$350 million in Flow – its largest single investment in a start-up ever. Tiger in 2022 combined with the Dog in his day pillar to produce fire his wealth or money which explained the investment from the VC. The Ren or Yang Water in 2022 also strengthened its weak day master.  Andreessen, also known as A16z, boasts of having funded companies such as Facebook Inc and Airbnb Inc at their start-up stage. Its latest investment instantly made Neumann’s new venture a unicorn, or a private VC-backed firm with a valuation of more than US$1 billion.

At the time of the announcement, the company said its expected launch of Flow was in 2023 which is the year of the Rabbit. As Rabbit is one of his noble people, I think he will receive more money from his noble people in 2023 to launch Flow. I think he has found his nobleman, Andreessen Horowitz for Flow like Masayoshi Son of Softbank for WeWork. Will he be lucky this time? Will Flow be successful?

The next coming 4 ten-year luck pillars namely Water Pig, Water Dog, Metal Rooster, and Metal Monkey have water and metal elements which are his favorable elements. He will continue to enjoy his success, status, and wealth for many decades.
