Do you have an affinity with your boss?

A career is not just about making money and working hard. We must also be happy in our career as we often spend 2/3 of our time working. If our work-life sucks our quality of life also sucks as it will affect our personal happiness and the quality of our family life. Many people think if they have qualifications, experience, work hard, and come to work punctually their career will be great. However, in reality, this is not true as they are employed for the jobs because they meet the expected qualifications, and experience for the jobs set by their employers. They are also expected to work hard at their jobs and come punctually for work by their employers. To get a promotion with a good increment in our job we need more than hard work, experience,  and qualifications.

Many career people in their mid-forties to the early fifties often have a mid-life crisis because of work stress and unhappiness at work because they are unable to get recognition and promotion as they do not have a good relationship with their boss hence hate their jobs. Although they hate their jobs they could not resign immediately as they have difficulties finding another job in view of their high salaries. They also have high financial commitments like housing loans, car loans, and family expenses to take care of. Their job opportunities are also limited in view of their age. They will be in a dilemma as they are stuck with the jobs they hated. To add insult to injury, some of them have to report to someone who is 15 to 20 years younger than them, less qualified, and less experience. The majority of people in the above group often do not have an affinity with their bosses.

Do you have an affinity with your boss? Affinity is defined as a natural liking for and understanding of someone. If you do not have an affinity with your boss and he/she does not like you then it’s game over for your career. If your boss likes you it is easier for you to build a good relationship with your boss, get a promotion, and gets things done. How your boss sees you will determine the future of your career. You need to position yourself to become your boss’s blue-eyed boy/girl to climb the corporate ladder. When you join any organization, your first job is to study your boss by finding out what he/she likes and dislikes.

Do you know your boss’s weakness? It is important for you to know your boss’s weaknesses so that you can help him to complement his weaknesses. To manage your boss you need to find out what your boss likes and dislikes. Learn how to work with your boss as he is the person paying your salary. Do you know why you are employed by your boss? It is important to know the reason why you are employed by your boss. If you are still clueless then it’s game over for you. It is also important that you do not piss off your boss if you want to climb the corporate ladder.

Do you have an affinity with your boss based on your Bazi chart?

Please print your Bazi Chart here.

In Bazi, the Direct Officer (DO) represents your boss. Look at your natal (in beige color) ten profile strengths chart. If you have 60 – 90% in the DO profile strength, you have an affinity with your boss and you naturally know how to manage your boss. DO represents your affinity and connection with your boss. If you have strong DO you need to position yourself to become your boss’s blue-eyed boy/girl to climb the corporate ladder.

If your DO profile strength is less than 60% or 100%, your affinity with your boss is low and you need to ask yourself two questions – what is my boss’s weakness, and why did my boss hire me? You need to learn to understand your boss’s weaknesses and work with him based on his likes and dislikes. You must consciously work towards making him like you by constantly saying good things about your boss – complimenting his/her looks, dressings, hairstyles, playing golf with him/her, giving free tickets to your boss to attend live concerts of his/her favorite singers, putting efforts to do apple polishing or bootlicking so to speak, and do not piss him/her off.

For example, John’s 10 profiles strength chart shown that his Direct Officer has a score of 88% which indicates that he has an affinity and connection with his boss and naturally knows how to manage his boss.

We also do not like to see a strong Hurting Officer (HO) in your natal profile strength chart. If your HO is strong, potentially you can have a bad relationship with your boss because strong HO indicates that you like to argue, challenge, complain, bitch a lot, have a strong opinion, like to debate, and need to be right all the time. Unknowingly you may piss off your boss.

If your HO profile strength is 90% and above it is considered strong. If your HO is very strong, it is important to remember this quote -“Don’t outshine your master” if you still want to climb the corporate ladder. If you know your boss is wrong just keep quiet and do not be smart and point out his mistakes in front of all the staff. If you just joined a new company please do not show off that you are smarter than your supervisor or superior as they may see you as a threat. Do not outshine your immediate superior or boss if your HO is strong.

For example, Mary’s 10 profiles strength chart (natal) shown that her Hurting Officer has a score of 95% which indicated that she has the tendency or likes to argue, challenge, complain, bitch a lot, have a strong opinion, like to debate, and need to be right all the time. She may unknowingly piss off her boss. As her Bazi consultant, you should advise her “Don’t outshine your master” if she still wants to climb the corporate ladder. Her Direct Officer (DO) is also low at 27%. She needs to ask herself two questions – what is her boss’s weakness, and why did her boss hire her?

You should also become teachable or coachable if you want to become your boss’s blue-eyed boy/girl. if your superior or boss wants to teach you something that you have learned before, just be humble and pretend that you don’t know and let him teach you and after that, you thank him/her for teaching you. Please do not tell your boss that you already knew the subject and there is no need for him/her to teach you anymore. This may piss off your boss.

In Bazi normally, people with day master of Yang Earth are not teachable or coachable as they always think they are smarter than you. This is because the Direct Officer of Yang Earth is Yin Wood. Yang Earth is hard earth or rock, and a Yin Wood is a soft small plant or grass that will find it difficult to penetrate the hard earth or rock.

To manage your boss you need to find out his likes and dislikes. You need to know your boss’s date of birth to plot his/her Bazi chart to find out his/her day master. You need to know your boss’s day master as each day master has his/her own likes and dislikes. There are ten-day masters – Yang Wood, Yin Wood, Yang Fire, Yin Fire, Yang Earth, Yin Earth, Yang Metal, Yin Metal, Yang Water, and Yin Water.

For example, if your boss is Yang Fire day master, he is basically a big picture person who likes information to be in summary form and dislikes details.

If your Yang Fire day master’s boss requested you for some information and you sent him a 3-page email with a lot of detailed information, he will probably not read your email or he will trash or delete your email as he prefers a short email with a summary.
