What is the difference between a job and a career?

A job can be just going to work to earn a paycheck. A career means that each of your jobs, experiences, and training programs is helping you advance in pay or responsibility. The real difference between a job and a career is your attitude. People who want a career are always thinking about their long-term goals.

There is a recent survey done on jobs and it was revealed that only 15% of the people worldwide actually enjoy their jobs. No wonder many job holders have Monday blues on Monday and are very happy when Friday comes. No wonder they always say “Thank God It’s Friday”. Many people are merely hanging on to their jobs even though they do not like their jobs as they need to pay bills and put food on the table for their family.

You can use your Bazi to help you to design your job into a career. You can use Bazi to give you self-awareness and as a guiding tool to navigate your career path and thrive in your career.

Before we proceed further, you need to know the meaning and traits of the following 10 elements-

Yang Wood – Diversification (you need to develop multiple skills, able to multi-task, be creative, come out with many ideas, polish your skills)
Yin Wood – Networking (able to network, socialize, good at public relations, can mingle and work with people, leverage on people)
Yang Fire – Persistency (be persistent, consistent, never give up attitude)
Yin Fire – Influence (can convince, can sell, and influence)
Yang Earth – Reflect, digest & grow (can filter information, calm, can learn and listen to both sides of the story)
Yin Earth – Value (do you know your value, your self-worth, learn to say no & do not be a yesman)
Yang Metal – Decisiveness/Action (be decisive and take action)
Yin Metal – Negotiation (how to talk, negotiate for the best deal, and to impress)
Yang Water – Vision (how do you see yourself in 5 years time in your career, be visionary, farsighted)
Yin Water – Intuition (business acumen or sixth sense)

Please take note of his Day Master (DM), the element of his heaven stem, and earth branch in his month pillar as circled in red in his Bazi chart. His DM represents his character/personality. His month pillar represents his career.

For Andy to design his job into a career he needs to have persistence as his DM is Yang Fire. He needs to have intuition as his heaven stem in the month pillar has Yin Water. He also needs to know his value as he has a Yin Earth in the earth branch of his month pillar. He needs to be persistent in chasing his goals, know his value, and the intuition to make important decisions.
