Destiny of Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh
Malaysian actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has made history by becoming the first Malaysian to win a Golden Globe award. She on Tuesday won the Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy film for “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” a hit sci-fi flick about surreal parallel universes. While she has starred in many American movies over the two decades since she made the leap from Hong Kong to Hollywood in 1997, she has never win a Golden Globe award until this year.
Yesterday, the King and Queen of Malaysia and the Malaysians in general including me congratulated her on being the first Malaysian to win a Golden Globes award. The Internet was buzzed by words of praise and pride for the Ipoh-born star after news broke that she had won the award for Best Actress for her performance in the critically acclaimed “Everything Everywhere All At Once” yesterday morning. The Malaysians are so proud of her. The part was originally intended for Jackie Chan, but then later offered it to Michelle Yeoh. She said she later texted Chan to tell him: “Your loss, bro.”
In the lead-up to the Academy Awards, she has been chosen as Time magazine’s “Icon of the Year”. This is the second time she has been prominently profiled on the international magazine after she was named one of its “100 Most Influential People of 2022” in May.
She was born at the end of the summer season when the fire is waning. Her day master is Yang or Bing Fire.
