How to select a house that will comply with Period 9 Fengshui
What is Fengshui? It is the art of harnessing Qi or energy from the external environment into our house so that we can position ourselves in a certain sector or area of our house to benefit from the good energy to improve our career, wealth, relationship, and health. Qi is described as a form of energy or vibrations. Have you watched “Star Wars” movies? If you have, then you will know what is Qi? Qi is like an invisible force in Star Wars movies. May the force or Qi be with you this year. Wi-fi is also like Qi is also a form of invisible energy, we know it is there but cannot see it. Some spots in your house can receive better wi-fi signals than other spots. Fengshui is like a wi-fi booster. Many people are currently interested in the Period 9 Fengshui and are anxious whether their existing and new house will comply with the Period 9 Fengshui. Period 9 is currently a popular and big Fengshui topic frequently discussed by many Fengshui practitioners in the world.
In Fengshui, there are 3 cycles nine periods as listed below. Currently, we are currently in Fengshui period 8 (from 2004 to 2023) and will be transiting to Period 9 from 2024 – 2043. The energy from period 9 is now slowly coming in and will fully come into force after February 4, 2024. Period 9 is represented by the Li Gua hexagram. Li Gua represents Fire and is in the south sector. Li Gua also represents light, brightness, red, purple color, middle daughter, middle-aged women, eye, heart, technology, automation power, artificial intelligence, virtual world, beauty, and spirituality.
The Period 9 energy will see the rise of middle-aged women- more women in leadership positions, benefit certain industries- technology, automation -self-driving vehicles, drones, artificial intelligence, e-gaming & sports, virtual world, crypto-currency, coaching, stem cells, virtual tours, social media consulting, beauty and cosmetic care products and anti-aging products, spirituality-meditation, healing, wisdom guru, and retirement homes business.
It is also good to start a business selling products and services like beauty and cosmetics that focus on women as they will have strong spending power as there will be many successful career women in the leadership positions in Period 9.
In Period 9, the new gold standard for beauty is chubby women. Ladies, please take note that being chubby is not the same as being fat. For lady models, it is more rewarding to be chubby and not slim and thin in Period 9.
LUO SHU CHART
There are many considerations in selecting a house that will comply with Period 9 Fengshui
1)The South sector of your house is not missing
Where is star 9 located in the Luo Shu Chart? Star 9 is located in the South sector in the above Luo Shu Chart. The South sector of your house will be the most prosperous sector in Period 9. To benefit from the Period 9 Fengshui energy the South sector of your house should not be missing. If your house has a missing prosperous South sector you will not benefit from the energy in Period 9. To comply with Period 9 the South sector of your house must not be missing irrespective of what period your house is in. Your house can be in Period 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8, it does not matter.
The prosperous South sector is very important in period 9. Try to avoid buying a house that has a toilet in the south sector as this will weaken your prosperous south sector. The south sector should be spacious, uncluttered, and bright so that the energy can flow and circulate well. Please ensure that outside the south sector there are no negative features like a pylon, T-junction, pillars, lamp post, big tree, and other negative features that may harm or affect Qi in the south sector.

2)The South can see the mountains
Around 70% of the Fengshui energy comes from the external environment landforms which are the mountains and water. In Period 9, it is important that from the south of our house, we can see a good mountain or hilly area. Mountain governs fulfillment, happiness, health, and relationship as shown below diagram. A good mountain is usually green and lush in appearance.
3)The North can see water
Water governs financial opportunities and wealth. In Period 9, in the North sector, looking out it is important that we can see water. Water must be clean, slow-moving, and sentimental. Water can be lake, pond and swimming pool.
House sitting on the South with a mountain behind and facing the North with water features in front will benefit from the energy in Period 9.
4)In front of the house can see Bright Hall or “Ming Tang”
As Li Gua also represents the Red Phoenix, it means the front of the house must be bright, clean, and spacious for qi or energy to collect and flow into your house. Make sure that there are no negative features like a pylon, T-junction, lamp post, pillar, big tree, and other negative features in front of your house.
5)North-West can see the mountain and the South-East can see water
If your existing house cannot see mountains in the south and water in the north, do not be sad please continue to read.
Early and Later Heaven Ba Gua
Based on the Early Heaven Ba Gua, South was represented by Qian Gua, and Later Heaven Ba Gua, South is represented by Li Gua. Qian Gua in the Later Heaven Ba Gua is represented by the North West sector and Li Gua is the South sector. So house sitting on North-West and facing South-East direction will also benefit in Period 9. If the North-West sector or direction can see mountain and South-East sector or direction of your house can see water you will also benefit from the energy of Period 9.
Summary
In general, if your house can fulfill all the above considerations, your house will comply with the Period 9 Fengshui. It can be your existing house. It is not necessary to buy a new Period 9 house to comply with Period 9 Fengshui. There are many confusions and misunderstandings for many people who think that they must a new house in period 9 to comply with Period 9 Fengshui. However, if you can afford a buy a new house in Period 9 then go ahead to buy.
If your existing house cannot comply with the above considerations, do not be sad, please continue to read further.
You can still apply Xuan Kong Flying Star Fengshui to enhance the internal Fengshui of your house namely the 3 important areas – the main door, master bedroom, and stove. It is still good if these 3 important areas can comply with the Period 9 Fengshui. Remember the internal Fengshui of your house will contribute another 30% of your house Fengshui. It is still better to have something than nothing at all.
Xuan Kong Flying Stars in Period 9
In the Xuan Kong Flying Stars system, there are nine stars-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9. A typical Flying Star chart has a left, right star, and a base star. The left star is called a Sitting Star which governs health, relationship, and people aspects, and the right star is called a Facing Star which governs wealth, career, and financial aspects. Each box represents a sector/area with compass directions.
The flying star charts for Period are based on the facing direction of the house. Once the facing direction of the house is determined, the relevant flying chart for the period will be superimposed on the floor plan of the house to find out what are prosperous stars in the house that can be used to enhance wealth, career, relationships, and health. You can google the flying star charts for various Fengshui periods 1 to 9 for free.
The prosperous star in Period 9 is 9. Stars 1 & 2 are growing stars in Period 9. Star 1 is the next prosperous star in Period 1. Star 2 is the next future prosperous star in Period 2. Star 2 is still very distant so the effect is still not strong but is still usable if you have no choice.
Stars 3 & 4 can also be considered for stove placement as they are wood elements and the stove is a fire element. In the 5-element productive cycle, wood produces fire, hence it is also good to place the stove in the sector where they are Facing or Sitting Stars 3 & 4.
To help you select your house that complies with Period 9 Fengshui, you can just focus on 3 important areas of your house-Main Door, Bedroom, and Stove. Your existing house can be in Periods 6, 7, or 8 or any period.
You need a floor plan of your house to map up the sector and direction of your house. Based on your floor plan, find the center point of your house by squaring off your floor plan and only include the internal area of your house. You can draw 2 lines from the corner of your plan to find the center point of your house. Then stand at the center of your house and use a western compass or a Fengshui Luopan to take direction facing out to your house. For accuracy, it is better to take direction outside your house to avoid any magnetic interferences inside the house. Once you get the facing direction of your house then use the relevant flying star chart to superimpose on the floor plan of your house.
For determining the house period, find out when was your house completed and when you moved into your house. If your house was completed in 2005 and you moved in 2006 you can use the Period 8 Flying star chart. If your house was completed in 1986 and you moved in 1988, you use the Period 7 chart. If your house will be completed after February 4, 2024, and you move in to stay in April 2024 then it is a Period 9 house.
For an apartment or condo, it is different, you have to use the period the first resident moved into the apartment or condo. If the first resident moved into the apartment or condo in Period 7 but you moved in Period 8, you have to use the Period 7 chart as apartment or condo is like many houses under the same roof.
The Main Door
The main door is the most important as it connects the energy from the external environment into the internal of your house. The main door is the Qi mouth of the house. It is important to have a timely and prosperous facing or sitting star 9, 1, or 2 in the main door sector. Facing stars govern wealth.
The Stove
The stove is important as this is where you cook your food. Stove governs your health. It is important to have a prosperous facing or sitting star 9, 1, or 2 in the sector of your stove. Stars 3 & 4 can also be considered as they are wood elements and the stove is a fire element. In the 5-element productive cycle, wood produces fire, hence it is also good to place the stove in the sector where they are Facing or Sitting Stars 3 & 4.
The Master Bedroom
A bedroom is important as it is a place of rest and sleep. It governs relationships and health. It is important to have a timely and prosperous sitting star 9, 1, or 2. Facing stars 9,1, or 2 is not desirable as they will cause the person to have insomnia or restlessness as he will be thinking about wealth opportunities all the time instead of sleeping. It may also cause health issues to the person due to lack of sleep.
Example 1
John’s house was completed in 2017 and he moved into his house in 2018. His house is a Period 8 house. His house faces East 3 direction. We use the flying star chart facing E3 for period 8 below.
He wants to find out whether his main door has facing star 9 or 1 or 2 to comply with the Period 9 Fengshui.
The main door of his house has a Facing Star 9 in the North-East sector. The North-East sector has a Sitting star 7 and a Facing Star 9. Facing Star 9 is a timely and prosperous star in Period 9 hence his main door will comply with Period 9 Fengshui.
The stove in his house which is located in the East sector has a Facing Star 4 and Sitting Star 3 which is also a good place for the stove as stars 3 & 4 are wood elements and the stove is considered a fire element, in the 5-element productive cycle, wood produces fire, hence it is good to place the stove in the East sector.
Example 2
Celine’s house was completed in 2019 and she moved into her house in 2020. Her house is a Period 8 house. Her house faces SW1 direction. We use the flying star chart facing SW1 for period 8 below.
Her house’s main door is located in the South sector which has a Sitting Star 7 and a Facing Star 1. The main door is a good door as it has a Facing Star 1 in the coming Period 9. Facing Star 1 governs wealth.
Bedroom 2 in the North-West sector has a Sitting Star 1 and Facing Star 4. She can position the bedhead at the sitting star 1 location as highlighted in orange.
For Bedroom 3 in the West sector, there is a Sitting Star 9 and Facing Star 3. She can position the bedhead at the timely prosperous sitting star 9 as indicated in orange.
The stove is located at South-East which has a Sitting Star 3 and a Facing Star 6. She can position the stove at the sitting star 3 location as star 3 is a wood element that is ideal for stove location.
Of course, there are many other Fengshui aspects to consider when selecting a property, however as it is not possible to cover everything in this blog.

Your P8 facing NE1 Your house has a combination of 10 with facing, the base star adds up with the facing star to a result of 10. For a combination of 10 structures to be activated, it needs the presence of real water in the location or direction in the front of your house like a lake, swimming pool, pond, or river, and also a mountain in the SW direction or back of your house. If you can move your front door to NE 2 with facing star 8 to tap the facing wealth star 8 it is better. When the external landform requirements are met, this structure can bring a doubling effect to the good fortune of the household in terms of wealth.

Thank you for your advice. But if my door cannot be moved, is there any cure or remedy? The back of my house has mountains at S and SW direction but about 1km away. There is a water tower at the E about 1.5km away and a lake at E, 4km away.

Hi there, I’m currently looking for a new house. One of the house having Period 8, E2 facing direction.
1. Master bedroom’s toilet located in South
-is it not good as in your article saying that we should avoid toilet in South of the house
2. Main door located at sitting star 5 and facing star 2
-is this combination is not good even though in period 9 the star number 2 is auspicious or still consider good because of the star number 2
3. Master bedroom located at sitting star 2 and facing star 5
-same as main door just now, but now the sitting star is 2 which is auspicious but facing star is 5, so is this consider good combination in period9?

1. It depends on how big is your South sector of your house. If you have a small toilet only, then you can always spend more time in the remaining sector of your south sector, it is still ok.
2. In Period 9 having a facing star 9, 1, and 2 at the main door is good. For the main door just focus on the good facing star as facing stars governs wealth.
3. In Period 9 having a sitting star 9, 1, and 2 is good for a bedroom. For the bedroom just focus on the good sitting stars as sitting star governs health and relationship.

To change the period 8 house to the period 9 house, you need to do extensive renovation to change the ground flooring, main door, and roof of your house. The roof at the top of your main door needs to be removed and exposed to the sky for at least 7 days or more. All the residents or people have to move out of or vacate your house for at least 3 months to 6 months before you move in again after renovation. Period 9 will start only on February 4, 2024. You can move in only after February 4, 2024. Changing period of the house can be done for the landed houses only. For apartments or condos, you cannot change the period even though you do the extensive renovation.

we live in a house that faces SE1 – Moutain Star 8 Water Star 6 (move in was in Period 8) From West to North we have a retention Pond and from South to East we have a road which is not a busy road. I read that the Star 2 will become a favorable Star and Star 4 will become unfavorable. (Stars 3, 4, 5 & 7 are unfavorable) Which would mean we can enhance the 2 but must cure the Star 4 in Period 9. Is this correct? Is the SE1 facing House still a good house in Period 9? If not, what can you advice?

For SE1 facing house, it is not favorable in P9 but you can to do some adjustments to make it favorable. Yes you can consult me on how to make it favorable for you. Star 4 is an academic star and will remain so in P9 so no need to cure star 4. Yes star 2 is usable as it is the future prosperity star.

For missing NW sector, just put a yellow led light (24-hours on) at Jia or East 1 (67.6-82.5 degrees). It will help to bring in 30-40% of the missing sector at NW. You can build up the missing NW by putting a full roof and wall in the missing NW sector.

How are you? My house was build in period 7. We moved in during period 8. During period 8, the floors has been changed, the stove has been changed and all the windows have been changed in past years on different dates. I know that if my house is on period 8, we will have good feng shui during period 9. Did those renovations made our house to become period 8? If not, can i replace a few tiles on the center of the roof and remove part of the ceiling to make a rebirth. Thinking of doing this roof change within 2023. Do you think by doing the roof change, can eventually make our To become period 8. Pls advise. Thank you very mich.

You must do major renovation – 75% change of your house. You need to change/remove the major portion of your roof and expose your house to the sun for at least 100 days, and change your main door and floor tiles around the main door. You need to move out of your house and no human can stay in the house for at least 6 months before you move in. This is a tedious process and no one knows whether the Period will actually change to the next period after the major renovation as this is in theory only.

I plan to buy a house built in Period 7 facing N 3º. I will renovate by replacing the front door, front tiles, extending the living room, adding another room, replace the kitchen cabinets, toilet tiles, all wardrobes. But the roof is left untouched. The renovation will last from Jan-Jun 2024 during which no one will be living there.
Is this house considered in Period 7 or Period 9? Is it good feng shui worth buying? Thank you

Your house is facing N2 and flying stars chart has a facing combo of 10. The house is worth buying if you can see lake or river in the north direction and mountain in the south direction. The lake or river in the north & mountain in the south will activate the facing combo of ten. If there is no such external landforms then the combo of ten will not be activated, then don’t buy the house as renovation will be costly. After renovation, the house will be still a Period 7 house as the roof is left untouched. You need to remove the the major front portion of the roof of your house. You also need to replace the front door and floor tiles of your living room and expose the house without the roof for at least 100 days to rain and sun to change the Fengshui period. In my opinion, such renovation will be costly and there is no guarantee the period of the house will change, it is better to buy and select a new house in Period 9 with north seeing river or lake view and south seeing mountain view.

I’m about to do a major renovation that it is expected to complete sometime in late 2024/early 2025. Based on what I read, it will be a period 9 house. Our front door is West facing (W2/270 degree) and based on our architect drawing the kitchen will be located in the south side of the house with the stove at about 160 degree. Living room will be in the east side (E1, E2 and E3) facing north east. On the second floor the master bedroom will be located in the east side ( E1, E2 and E3) and the washroom is located in the E3, SE1areas with the toilet near the middle of the floor. It’s worth noting that the bathtub and shower are not directly on top of the stove below the first floor. My husband baqua number is 9 and mine is 6. Would appreciate any advices you may be able to provide. Thank you so much!

Fengshui can be complicated and confusing.
1)Not necessary if the bed and stove are already in good sectors. Small Taiji is used for fine-tuning a good place for your bed and stove.
2)In the Later Heaven Ba Gua, NW represents the father or senior person, putting a stove in the NW sector is like putting your father on “fire”.

1. Safe to sleep in the S sector in 2024 provided you do not do renovate, hammer, drill the wall in the south sector.
2. Relocate yr main door to SE sector if you can. Main bedroom in S sector is good. Stove should be in SE sector.
3. Ok for son to sleep in NW as Star 2 in P9 becomes a good star.
4. In P9, for wealth relocate your main door in SE sector, for health sleep in the NE sector.
