The largest game developer, Tencent Holdings Ltd has surpassed Alibaba Group Holding Ltd as Asia’s most valuable company, with its shares rising above HK$500(US$64.50) in intraday trading on Wednesday (on June 24) for the first time ever. The rallies have propelled the wealth of its founder-Tencent’s Pony Ma, net worth US$51.2billion, has surpassed Jack Ma’s US$48 billion fortune, becoming China’s richest man.

If you are an investor and wish to invest in the shares of Tencent, you have to analyze the Bazi Chart of its founder, Chairman, and CEO, Pony Ma as he is the one who drives the growth of the company. Ma uses the nickname “Pony” which is derived from the English translation of his family name, which is “horse.” He studied computer science and was a software developer at a supplier of telecom services and products before co-founding Tencent with four others in 1998. They began the company with only $120, 000. At that time, the company focused on instant-messaging services.

Fast-forward to now the company controls China’s biggest mobile instant messaging service and its subsidiaries provide media, entertainment, payment systems, smartphones, internet-related services, value-added services, and online advertising services, both in  China and globally.

Pony Ma is a Yin Fire day master born at the end of the autumn season when earth and metal are strong. A Yin Fire person is normally warm, adaptive, friendly, intelligent, meticulous, and a good motivator. His day master of Yin Fire is surrounded by plenty of earth and water elements. His Yang earth in the heaven stem is the same as Yang earth in the earth branch in the month pillar. This indicates that there is clarity of thought meaning that his mind and heart are aligned or are incongruent with what he wants to do in his business. Pony Ma and his four other classmates co-founded Tencent in 1998. 1998 is a Tiger Year. Pony’s natal Bazi chart has two Pigs as circled in red, one in the Year Pillar and another one in the Day Pillar which formed a double combination with the Tiger in 1998 to produce his positive resource which is the wood element as shown in the above chart. There was also a partial 3-Harmony Combination (3HC) between the two Pigs as circled in blue in his natal chart and Goat in his luck pillar from age of 27-36 to form a block of the wood element.

A combination in the year pillar means there will be opportunities and you need to do something big and bold like starting a new career and business, launching new products and services, doing a big project, finding a new market, and expanding your social circles. The company’s first product came after Pony Ma participated in a presentation for ICQ, the world’s first Internet instant messaging service, founded in 1996 by an Israeli company. 1998 was indeed a good year for Pony Ma.

Inspired by the idea, Ma and his team launched in February 1999 a similar software, with a Chinese interface and a slightly different name – OICQ (or, Open ICQ). The product quickly became popular and garnered more than a million registered users by the end of 1999, making it one of the largest such services in China. 1999 is another good year for Pony Ma. 1999 was a Rabbit Year. The Rabbit in 1999 formed a 3-Harmony Combination (3HC) with Pig and Goat in the luck pillar to produce a block of wood element which is his positive resource as shown in the below chart. 

In 2004, Tencent launched an online gaming platform and started selling virtual goods to support the games published on that platform (weapons, gaming power), as well as emoticons and ringtones. Different kinds of games, created within Tencent, would be added regularly to Tencent’s services, to keep the customers’ interest. This strategy paid off by attracting more than one million online gamers in China.

By 2004, Tencent became the largest Chinese instant messaging service (holding 74% of the market), prompting Pony Ma to list the company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in June 2004. In 2004, Tencent was listed in June which was a DW month which made Pony Ma very wealthy.

Goat in the luck pillar has a partial 3HC with the two Pigs in his chart to produce his positive wood resource and Goat also combined with Horse in the month of June when the company was listed to produce fire, his positive self-element to strengthen his weak day master of Yin Fire so that he can control his wealth. Pig in his natal chart also combined partially under 3HC with the Goat in his month in July to produce his positive wood resource after the company was listed in June which further strengthened his weak day master of Yin Fire and made him very rich. There was also a strong DW star in the year 2004 which further explained how he became wealthy after Tencent was listed. 2004 is indeed an epic year for Pony Ma.

In 2007, 2014, and 2018, Time magazine called him one of the world’s most influential people, while in 2015, Forbes credited him as one of the world’s most powerful people. In 2017, Fortune ranked him as among the top businessmen of the year. In 2018, he was named one of the “Most Powerful People In The World” by the CEOWORLD magazine. This is no surprise to me as he has a DO (Direct Officer) star in his day and year pillar in his Bazi Chart as the DO star represents his reputation, status, fame, influence, and power.

As of June 2020, he is China’s richest man, with a net worth of US$51.2 billion according to Forbes. There is a prominent DW star in his annual pillar for 2020 which explained why he can surpass Jack Ma’s net worth in 2020.

The above case study highlighted that the two combinations of animal signs and three harmony combinations are the possible breakthrough years and periods to be successful and wealthy.
