Every one of us dreams to be successful and wealthy one day. However in reality how many of us make our dreams come true? In my opinion, to make our dreams come true we must be prepared to put in the hard work to develop whatever skills we have to the maximum, wait for the right opportunities to come, and good luck. My favorite Fengshui celebrity master always quotes his famous mantra that the formula for luck is preparation and opportunities. Our natal Bazi chart will reveal to us what are the skills to develop which is equal to the preparation stage. Our luck pillar will reveal the opportunities coming to us. Every luck pillar has a ten-year period. After discovering which luck pillar your opportunities will appear you need to plan and strategize in advance to seize the opportunities when they come.

To illustrate this we look at the Bazi chart of the legendary basketball player, Michael Jordan also known by his initials MJ.

Michael Jordan is an American former professional basketball player. He played 15 seasons in the NBA, winning six championships with the Chicago Bulls.  His biography on the official NBA website states: “By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.” He is considered instrumental in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s. His net worth is estimated at US$2.1 billion (June 2020). His leaping ability, demonstrated by performing slam dunks from the free-throw line in Slam Dunk Contests, earned him the nicknames “Air Jordan” and “His Airness”.

Michael Jordan is a Yin or Xin Metal day master. Yin metal is like a fine metal like jewelry, ring, and diamond. A Yin Metal person normally likes to look good, elegant, sophisticated, classy, be in the limelight, to show off, to dazzle, and to display one’s talent. He is a Yin Metal day master born in the spring season when the wood element is prosperous. He is a weak Yin Metal day master as he is not born in season and his day master is surrounded by many wood elements in his chart. His favorable element is the earth element which represents his resource element which gives the ability to put in long hours of practice to perfect his basketball skills and metal which is his companion or self-element which represents his supporters and raving fans.

Based on his Bazi chart, Michael Jordan has 6 wealth stars (2 DW and 4 IW). The month pillar represents his basketball career. His two DW elements-one is in the heaven stem and another one is strongly rooted in Tiger in the month pillar as shown in his chart. This is a superior wealth chart as the DW in the earth branch in the month penetrates into heaven DW.

The DW in the heaven stem is identical to the DW in the earth branch. This indicates that there is clarity of thought meaning that his mind and heart are aligned or are incongruent with what he wants to do. He has clarity in what he wants to do and just do it i.e. to be a successful and wealthy basketball player. Just like Nike slogan says “Just Do it”. He has signed a contract with Nike to promote Air Jordan which is a brand of basketball shoes, athletic, casual, and style clothing produced by Nike.

This reminds me of one of my ex-colleagues who told me many years ago that he was not happy with his job and wanted to resign. However, after my retirement recently, he has yet to resign and still go around bitching about his work and boss. He definitely has no clarity of thoughts and his mind and heart are not aligned. Many types of research have been done on high achievers and it was noted that around 70% of the high achievers have clarity in what they want to do in their career. Their mind and heart are always incongruent or aligned with what they want to do. There is no confusion. They know what to do and will just do it. If they said they want to resign, they will just do it.

There are also four IW elements in his chart. His IW elements are in the Year, Day, and Hour Pillar which represents that he has multiple sources of income from various sponsorships, endorsements from advertisements, and branding. Yin Wood or IW element in the hour pillar also represents his Heavenly Wealth star or unexpected wealth. He will be also going through his Heavenly Wealth in the LP of Yin Wood Snake or LP of IW from the age of 84 to 93 years. This indicates that his wealth will continue to flow in until very old age. He is indeed a very lucky and wealthy man.

Normally, if you have many wealth stars in your Bazi Chart, it is extremely difficult for you to become poor unless you are very lazy and do not want to put in any effort to do something of value.

IW element for a male also represents his father. There are many IW elements in his chart which indicated that his late father influenced him a lot and supported him in his successful career. Jordan was close to his father; as a child, he had imitated his father’s proclivity to stick out his tongue while absorbed in work. He later adopted it as his own signature, displaying it each time he drove to the basket. In 1996, he founded a Chicago area Boys & Girls Club and dedicated it to his father.

During his favorable Luck Pillar (LP) of Yin Metal Pig or Friend (F) from the Chinese age of 24 to 33 years, Pig in his LP formed a 3-Harmony Combination (3HC) with Goat and Rabbit in his natal chart to produce wood which is his wealth element. 3HC means collaboration with others to get wealth. In this case, playing together with his teammates in Chicago Bulls to win many NBA championships. During his rookie season with the Bulls, he made his major breakthrough during this LP, he became popular, successful and his wealth started to increase. Roy S. Johnson of  The New York Times described him as “the phenomenal rookie of the Bulls” in November, and Jordan appeared on the cover of  Sports Illustrated with the heading “A Star Is Born” in December. The LP of Friend (F) also got him many raving fans and supporters. The fans also voted in Jordan as an All-Star starter during his rookie season. Controversy arose before the All-Star game when word surfaced that several veteran players were upset by the amount of attention Jordan was receiving. This led to a so-called “freeze-out” on Jordan, where players refused to pass the ball to him throughout the game. The controversy left Jordan relatively unaffected when he returned to regular season play, and he would go on to be voted Rookie of the Year.

As Michael Jordan is a weak metal day master, you may argue that this contradicts one of Bazi verses that say that “Wealth is a lot but the self is weak, Rich House, a poor person”. Normally, a weak day master finds it harder to control wealth than a strong day master. However, in his case, he was going through his favorable LP of Yin Metal Pig or Friend (F) as metal is his favorable element which made his weak day master became strong. When his weak day master became strong, he was able to control his wealth. This was followed by the subsequent favorable luck pillars of metal and earth. Another reason was before and during this LP he also put in many hours of training to hone his basketball skills to the maximum to become stronger and more skillful i.e. the preparation stage. During the LP of Yin Metal Pig or Friend (F), LP of Yang Metal Dog, or Rob Wealth (RW), and subsequent luck pillars he became more dominant, popular, confident, and able to achieve more fame, success and wealth because of his unstoppable basketball skills.

Michael Jordan has a Wealth structure as shown in his natal 5 structures chart. His Wealth element is at 100% in his natal chart. The wealth element is the element you control/dominate in the Bazi concept. If your wealth element is high it means that you want to control or dominate what you are doing. Looking at the 5 structures chart of Michael Jordan which is a Wealth structure, it means that he likes to win or dominate in whatever he does and he is highly competitive. He wants to dominate and win at all costs. This explained why he is so successful in his profession. Wealth is high also indicates that a person is very hardworking and unlikely to retire early. Michael Jordan has in fact retired a few times but came back subsequently from his retirement.

Please also note that his chart is not balanced as it is skewed towards wealth. Successful and rich people normally do not have a balanced chart. They will live a balanced life only after they are successful and rich. So if your chart is not balanced, please do not worry too much as the good news is that you will have the potential to be successful and rich.

In summary, if you want to be wealthy, your chart preferably must have wealth elements, you also need preparation and time to develop your skills and when opportunities come, you just do it.
