Chart of Lin Dan

Lin Dan, aged 37 years, is widely regarded as the greatest badminton player of all time. He is one of my favorite badminton players. He announced his retirement on  4 July 2020 cited pain and injuries as the reason. The end of Lin’s glorious career comes just over a year after the retirement of his great rival and friend, the Malaysian star Lee Chong Wei. Lin, who had something of a “bad boy” reputation during his younger days and has several tattoos, ended his badminton career with 666 singles wins and a glut of medals.

He was a five-time world champion and a long-time former world number one. He earned the nickname “Super Dan” at the peak of his career. He won gold at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games, will not compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which were pushed back to next summer because of coronavirus.

Luck Pillar of Lin Dan

He was born in the late autumn season. Water is strong in his chart as Yang Water is strongly rooted in his day and year pillar. His Year pillar is a pure water pillar as it has both Yin Water in the heaven stem and earth branch. He is considered a strong Yin Wood day master. A Yin Wood day master is considered a survivor. Yes, he not only survived but thrived for around two decades in the badminton world. His favorable elements are fire (output), earth (wealth), and metal (power and status). He achieved his major successes in his favorable luck pillar of Yin Earth Goat or Indirect Wealth (IW) which is a block of the earth element, his IW star. He became rich, famous, and popular as he won many major world badminton championships and two Olympics gold medals. Lin Dan’s net worth is estimated at $41 million. I believed that his hour pillar could be one of the four Fui-kong pillars either Geng-Xu, Geng-Chen, Ren-Chen, or Wu-Xu. It is very favorable for any sportsmen of world-class ranking to have a Fui-kong pillar. This will provides them with the fighting spirit and never-say-die attitude. Coming to Lin Dan’s achievements, in 2011 the Chinese legend became the first player to complete the ‘Super Grand Slam’ of badminton’s nine major titles. The titles include the Olympic Games, the World Championships, the Asian Championships, the World Cup, the Thomas Cup, the All England Open, the Sudirman Cup, the Super Series Masters Finals, and the Asian Games. He is the first and only player to achieve this feat. He recently admitted that it was the push from Lee Chong Wei that had earned him the greatest of all time (GOAT) tag. His fierce rivalry with Chong Wei over the years had helped him surpass his own limits-something that he could not acquire through training. It was the Fui-kong pillar and Rob Wealth (RW) or competitive star in the year and day pillars that gave him the competitive and fighting spirit.

Annual Pillar of 2020

Rat in the annual pillar of 2020 clashed with Horse in his current luck pillar which indicated that external circumstances or events- the coronavirus pandemic forced him to retire early. He always said that he was determined to reach the Tokyo Olympics, but his ranking of 19 in the world and the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic Games due to coronavirus made that dream unlikely. He had always maintained that he would try to make it the last Olympics hurrah in Tokyo to bid for a third Olympic gold. If the Tokyo Olympics are held this month instead of 23 July 2021, the chances for Lin Dan to win his third Olympics gold medal are rated as good as he is currently in his favorable luck pillar of Yang Earth-Horse. However, the coronavirus pandemic which is an external event has intervened and the third Olympics gold medal is not meant to be for him. He should be happy with his two Olympics gold medals.
