How to become indispensable in your job?

We are now a few days into the Year of the Metal Rat of 2020 and this is definitely not a good start for the Rat Year as it has been two weeks since the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China with no solution in sight. Many of the global share markets have dropped and affected by the coronavirus outbreak. Airlines, hotels, entertainment, restaurant, and tourism business have also been badly affected by the outbreak. We do not know whether the coronavirus outbreak will get worse in the coming months or a new vaccine to combat the coronavirus will be discovered in the coming months. If the coronavirus continues to spread rapidly and prolong for a few more months, some companies in the airlines, hotels, entertainment, restaurant, tourism and other related business may resort to retrenchment of staff and the repercussions can be widespread.

The latest news updates- Uniqlo has shut down around half of its China stores due to coronavirus. Singapore announced earlier today that it will be raising its disease outbreak response to the coronavirus situation by a notch to orange, which is just below the highest level of red. This has resulted in panic buying of groceries in Singapore. Malaysia Smelting Corporation Bhd announced today that it would offer a Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) to its staff.

If you are working for someone, I think the best protection against retrenchment is to become indispensable in your job so that you will become the person your company cannot do without. You will become irreplaceable.

Here are some of the ways for you to become indispensable-
